| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Atlantic City CardSharks December 16, 2003 THE FEEDING FRENZY BEGINS Professional indoor football is officially coming to New Jersey in 2004. The Atlantic City CardSharks will kick-off their inaugural season this Spring. The newcomer to the National Indoor Football League, The Atlantic City CardSharks will play 14 regular season games, with their first two games on the road. The team will then return for their home debut on April 10th 7:30 p.m. at majestic and historic Boardwalk Hall on the Atlantic City boardwalk. Their schedule includes 7 home games. Indoor football is played on a 50 yards long x 28 yards wide field surrounded by a 3 foot padded wall called a dasher board. Eight member offensive and defensive teams play off the dasher board until the game ball flies into the stands for a fan to keep. Head Coach Mike Siani promises “action-packed, fast-moving and high-scoring fun for everyone.” Siani, last year’s coach for the Myrtle Beach Stingrays, played for the Oakland Raiders and former Baltimore Colts. He holds many unbeaten records at Villanova University and played on the Super Bowl-winning Raiders’ team in 1977 against the Minnesota Vikings. At today’s press conference and kick-off, Siani signed two players. Jamal Naji, a resident of Atlantic City who played at Norfolk State College, will play Defensive End. A resident of Galloway Township and former All-American at Rutgers University, Lamont Green will assist Coach Siani with directing the offensive and defensive line while playing Center. The Atlantic City CardSharks is owned by Atlantic Sports LLC headed by John Verde. The team, the 26th in the NIFL Northeast Division, which includes last year’s Indoor Bowl winners, the Ohio Valley Greyhounds. With a 3-year agreement to play in Boardwalk Hall, management promises to provide the community with exciting, family-friendly recreation.
